Malana Village, Parvati Valley
Malana Valley, a side valley of the Parvati Valley to the north-east of Kullu Valley, is isolated from the rest of the world.
Route to Malana diverge from Jari village, which is around 17km and then additional 30 minute Trek. Jari village is in between Bhuntar-Kasol. Roughly 12km before Kasol. The only way is to hire taxi.

Unaffected by the modern civilization, Malana has its own lifestyle and social structure. It is one of the oldest democracies of the world. One can witness the culture they follow or the beliefs they have about their Alexander genes. They consider themselves to be descendants of Alexander the Great and their local court system even today reflects the ancient Greek system.They have their own rules, their own law system.
- Police intervention is not allowed, but if the accused wants to seek the help of police he has to pay a fine of Rs 1000/- to the village council.
One cannot even touch them as they are different. In case of any contact, they will rush for a bath. Their religious place is forbidden for others. They consider outsiders simply untouchables. They have different language if compared to the locality language. These things only makes one curious to know more about this isolated place.

Isolated from the rest of India, the 1500 people of Malana, fiercely protective of their livelihood and customs, have developed a defense mechanism against outsiders.
The villagers believe that they have pure Aryan genes and that they are descendants of Alexander the Great’s soldiers. Malana god, Jamlu, forbids them from eating, staying or marrying outside the community. They do not like outsiders touching their things. One woman shrank away as a visitor to the village picked up a fallen piece of wood for her.
